Emilia will talk about ongoing research on how households learn about new technologies. Within the context of a large-scale Randomized Control Trial (RCT) focused onmeasuring the socio-economic impacts of a new hybrid maize seed
, she is hoping to better understand (i) the types of information that matter for adoption, (ii) how information spreads between participants, and (iii) whether study participants can be classified as different learner "types" that respond differently to information. She will explain the methodology used for each of these research questions, which includes the use of tablet-based photo matrices to elicit social networks, and anexperimental learning game
. During the talk, we will do an interactive demonstration of the experimental game that will be used to model participants' learner-types.
