iHub Research is excited to host this month’s NRBuzz, on Thursday 10TH April from 5.30 PM focusing on the EDTECH scene. This session will bring together start-ups and established entrepreneurs in the EDTECH scene to share their experiences from implementation of their platforms in education institutions and the role that research plays in their work.
Technology use in the education sector is steadily picking up with many institutions beginning to adopt that practice. In the past, the major challenge was getting the teachers to accept to use the technology in the classrooms without feeling that it was a threat to their livelihood. Although this fear has not been completely eradicated, there is a steady increase in adoption of educational technologies by students and educators in the classrooms.
In a previous article, we spoke about the evolution of edtech. This month’s NRBuzz delves a bit further into the topic to explore how Kenyan some entrepreneurs are leveraging research to gain insights to better implement their applications. The idea is to have the entrepreneurs talk about their applications, the research processes they currently implement as well as offer advice on navigating the edtech scene. Isn’t this a good opportunity to learn from those who have been there?
Eneza eduation will talk about the impact reports they have been releasing and the way they have gone about it. eLimu will talk about the importance of monitoring and evaluatory research by presenting results from schools that are already using the eLimu app in Kibera and Kawangware . eLimu will talk about the challenges of education research such as developing age-appropriate and relevant data collection methods and thenew and exciting student-feedback collection methods that it is developing. NRBUZZ will also feature speakers who have implemented the OLPC (One Laptop Per Child) program in Kenya.
