WMIAfrica Network will be hosting its first Math Camp at the iHub on 20th July from 10 am to 2 pm around the theme 'Integrating maths and science creatively into our daily lives'. The camp will feature a special guest:Linet Kwamboka, a software engineer at Carnegie Mellon University.

The camp is aimed at exploring the infinite frontier of mathematics and science beyond the school curriculum. Hands-on activities guided by university students and speakers will offer the participants a fun and enriching day.

The program for the camp will be focused on :

  • Using data to make smart business solutions.
  • The power of networks.
A pizza lunch and snacks are included.

About WMIAfrica Camps

WMIAfrica is an online platform (in development) that seeks to mitigate the lack of access to information, role models and skills facing young girls and women interested in pursuing Science, Technology , Engineering and Mathematics studies and careers. WMIAfrica provides a platform for virtual & physical mentoring for girls and young women interested in STEM by professional Women Mentors working in STEM fields.

WMIAfrica hosts camps in the different STEM fields,these camps are of great importance as they spark interest in STEM careers through hands on project based learning. The campers also get an opportunity to work in teams to search for solutions, tackle challenging STEM content, design their own creations and showcase their finished product.The camps also encourage student interest in innovative,career based STEM programmes. The camps will also ensure that they pave way for collaboration with local STEM industry partners and focus student career trajectories on the high tech jobs available in the region.
